Why Our Church

Our Mission & Vision

To Know Christ and Make His Love Known

We pray to become:

A family of faith, trusting in Christ, immersed

in God’s Word, constantly in prayer;

A community of joy, made new by the Holy Spirit,

worshiping and praising our Lord,

giving ourselves and our gifts to God’s kingdom

 Ambassadors of God’s love,

embracing all who seek Christ,

providing Christian nurture,

offering the hope of Christ to the world.

— Looking Back

Proverbs 29:18 reads “Where there is no vision, the people perish.” In 2001 and 2002 ten people from Grace United Methodist Church were tasked with asking God the question: “What is God’s Mission and Vision for Grace United Methodist Church?” They were also tasked with preparing a succinct and clear Mission and Vision statement based upon God’s response to their question. They represented quite a diverse group of individuals from Grace. They ranged in age from seventeen to over seventy. They included both men and women. One lady was pregnant with triplets at the time. There were probably both Democrats and Republicans represented; though they never discussed politics. Some were typically quiet while others were anything but. Some had definite opinions from the beginning while others did not. Some in the group, upon initially looking at who all was there, thought that there was no way this group of individuals would ever be able to agree on anything much less prepare a Mission and Vision statement together. However, they spent a year praying and asking God this question, studying His Word and listening for His answer, polling the rest of the congregation and incorporating their response, and preparing the Mission and Vision statement in response to what they heard from God. In the end they didn’t even vote on the Mission and Vision statement. The last day as they worked on it together, all at once they knew in unison that they had it. God had answered and they had heard. God had unified this diverse group of individuals as one in Christ. Many in the group looking back on the year spent have said that it was the most spiritual experience of their lives. It was a year well worth it.

What We Believe as United Methodists

The United Methodist Church is a global denomination that opens hearts, opens minds and opens doors through active engagement with our world. The mission of The United Methodist Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

Your Steps to Membership

It is a joy for the people of Grace UMC to bring new people into the membership of the church. We have been blessed to welcome over 100 new members over the past two years who have been vital and active participants in the ministry of Grace. It is a pleasure for our Pastors to meet with guests before and after the worship services. We ask you sign the guest information in the pad on the seat, as this will make your information available for our Associate Pastor to be in contact with you shortly after your visit. Rev. Haase will then be happy to meet with you over coffee or lunch, or at your home to get to know one another. If you have an interest in joining our membership, he will lead you through our “Next Step” program.

We offer instruction for potential new members with our “Faith and Church” classes which are offered at various times throughout the year. The Pastors and Staff will also meet with you and at our quarterly “Pastor’s Coffee.” You will meet the people of Grace who will share with the many ministry and learning opportunities in which you can participate.

For more information about becoming a member, please email Rev. Randall Haase or call him at the church office, 803-279-7525.
