Local Missions
Community Ministry of North Augusta
This organization provides assistance to those in the North Augusta community who are in need of a variety of help. Applicants are screened by an interviewer who determines ways that CMONA can help. This ministry is staffed and supported largely by local churches that provide volunteers and financial support. Grace’s Mission budget contributes monthly to CMONA. The Thrift Store offers clothing and household items to our community at a reduced price. All revenues generated go toward assisting CMONA clients. Volunteer duties include sorting clothes, merchandising the store, interviewing clients and more. Call 279-5771 to volunteer your time to this important ministry, or contact Polly Hargrove.
Mission Possible
This ministry aids homebound and older members of our congregation needing assistance. Volunteers meet and go out into the community assisting with local home repairs and/or yard work. Construction expertise is not required, just a willingness to be of help to someone who does not have the means to do the work themselves. Mission Possible is held twice a year and is headed by Ray Griffin.
Ramp Ministry
Ramp Ministry is a mission where those who are in need of minor home repairs or handicap accessory ramps and cannot financially afford them can be helped. Requests come to the church secretary from a variety of sources (hospitals, extended care organizations, CMONA, etc.) Once the need has been confirmed, a date is set and volunteers are contacted for their availability. The work is normally scheduled for the first available weekend and is usually performed in one day. The goal of the Ramp Ministry is to demonstrate and share God’s love through helping those local folks in need. If you would like to work with this group, contact Ray Griffin.

Early Response Team
Grace United Methodist Church provides response to disasters, such as damage from floods, tornados or hurricanes, under supervision by the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) in coordination with SC- UMVIM. Approximately 20 members of Grace are trained and available to be on call when a disaster occurs. Individuals interested in training should contact Jed Lee.

North Augusta Salkehatchie
This is a youth-driven mission of the United Methodist Church that began around 1983. Youth, with adult guidance, work to improve the homes and lives of people in South Carolina. Spending one week doing as much as possible, leaking roofs are repaired, floors secured, and structural issues are corrected. Skills are learned, friends are made and lives are changed. Individuals pay a registration fee to participate and these funds are used to purchase building materials. There are over 50 Salkehatchie camps around the state throughout the summer. In 2018 Grace hosted its sixth NA Salkehatchie Summer Service mission camp. With Annual Conference funding and local donations and volunteers we worked along-side those who came from other Methodist churches outside the area to repair houses for those in need.

Family Promise
Family Promise helps local homeless families with children achieve lasting independence. They do this by providing safe shelter, meals, day care, and support services such as case management and assistance in securing employment and affordable housing. Grace UMC is one of 25 local churches to host up to three families for a week at a time. Three or four times a year, we house these families in our facility and provide meals. Volunteer opportunities include loading and unloading beds, setting up the guests’ rooms, providing meals, being an evening host, and being an overnight host. Contact Margaret McKibbin for more information.
