Preschool Grace CDC offers preschool classes for Young 3s (those 2 1/2 by Sept. 1st), 3K, 4K,and 5K. All classes are held 9:00 - 12:00. Class sizes are limited and each class (3K -5K) is taught by a degreed teacher with a paraprofessional in each room. Several options exist for each grade level. Currently, there are three 3K classes,held 2, 3, or 5 days/week, three 4K classes, held 3 or 5 days/week, and one 5K classheld daily. Our Young 3's class is for children who are not old enough for 3K, but are ready fora more structured day than typically offered in a 2 year old program. The Young 3'sclass is the same age group as the Older 2's CDO, just offered on Tuesdays and Fridaysand only until noon. Older 2's CDO is held on Mondays and Thursdays and continuesuntil 1:00 (lunch is eaten at school in CDO). Our 3K classes focus on social skills while being introduced to letters, numbers,colors, shapes and the calendar, in addition to arts and crafts, story time, and Biblestories. Our 4K classes build on these skills to learn beginning writing, letter namesand sounds, and beginning math. Our 5K class focuses on learning to read through theSaxon phonics program, in addition to continuing learning math using the Hardcourtmath curriculum. All preschool classes attend music class weekly. Our 3K - 5K classes practice andperform at least two programs each school year, a Christmas program and a"graduation" program. Our 5K class performs the Nativity story for their Christmasprogram, Our 3K - 5K classes also attend Science class. This class presents hands-onactivities that teach students about science through examining God's creation.Additionally, 3K - 5K (except 2 day/week 3K) attend Computer Lab weekly. Our 3Kstudents enjoy learning to operate the mouse and navigate their way through ageappropriate computer programs. Our 4K and 5K classes continue in Computer Labusing programs which reinforce what they are learning in their preschool classroom.Our 4K and 5K students attend Chapel each Thursday, which is in addition to dailyBible stories in each preschool class. Chapel is taught by Mrs. Jean Knight, avolunteer who teaches the children so much about God through Bible stories andsongs. Each class also goes to the playground daily. The CDC serves a morning snack. Carlines are used for 3K - 5K children. All 3K - 5K classes also go on several field tripsthroughout the school year and enjoy holiday and end-of-year parties either in theirclassroom or at a local park. |
